| About Me: |
"2 wheels, a tank full of gas, an open road and a dark, angry sky - now who wants to feel like God?" Based at Mangalore, sunny port city of Karnataka, my line - Interior Decorator, gives me the freedom to spend time with my 2 boys [Daschunds :-)], and my bikes. Ever since school & then college days, though I have always respected the 100cc and above bikes for their style & styling, nothing interested me more than bikes with dual silencers and heavy duty performances. The roar of the Enfields was throaty to me, but the bikes were too big for me. Once given a chance to own my first bike, a Yezdi rider convinced me to get a Roadking at half the price of a new 100 cc bike. And so began my romance with this trusty workhorse. 'Grease' ['93 Yezdi Roadking] - My first bike in black with the stock graphics. I cannot describe what I felt when I first saw, rather heard him in 1999. He was my constant companion from Aurangabad days and then I brought him down to Mangalore with me. We've been to all places, carried different girls... :-) A sudden midtrip to Bangalore (356 km away) and breaking down halfway, a monsoon ride to Coorg in the middle of a pouring night, a day ride to Kasargod, a nature ride in the middle of a jungle to the foot of the Teertha falls... the list goes on. And the day I don't take him out, it feels like the day's incomplete. Oh yes, I've had tough times, engine problems, starting problems, etc. but what the hell, a l'le bit of care and he was always back as new. :-) 'Jinx' ['83 Yezdi Classic] - What initially began as searching for a spare part bike, became an obsession, when this bike (whose tank I whacked off for the Jungle ride) went up for sale as the owner did not want it any more. Lying out in the open for 2 years under the alternating harsh sun and cold rains, no one wanted it and after a few months, it looked like it could just land up in the scrap yard. With the engine, complete body, tyres, rims all in good condition and only requiring a paint & chroming job, I felt rather than let her go to waste, I could take her home. Sprucing her up, gave her a raw look but a great feel that differed from the Roadking. I don't regret it one bit. 'Whitie' ['84 LML Vespa] - Not my cup of tea :-), but being my Dad's scooter, stock as from the day it came out of the factory, I'm trying to get the hang of it, to be used in my ripe 'ole years to come. Niggling starting problems that need to be overcome. You wanna check out more of my pics, click on the link http://www.dropshots.com/Shawnfz |
